Barb Polka Smith (b2p)
Barb works as a manager within ETS at Penn State and has varying responsibilities, including overseeing budgets, project management, and managing staff. In the Adobe Connect community, she has been most involved in working with the contacts to distribute meeting creator licenses. She originally worked with Adobe Connect (then known as Breeze) when Penn State started looking at desktop video conferencing for instructional purposes in 2004, and became involved with it on a regular basis in January 2006. In her everyday life, she uses Adobe Connect to attend meetings, focus groups, and training sessions.
Barb on her background and the community: “I am a definite end user as my background is Animal Bioscience, but everyone on the Adobe Connect team has complimentary strengths. That is why the community idea is so important; it is difficult for any one person to know all about Adobe Connect or to envision all possible uses of Adobe Connect. Every single user will have seen something that no one else will have noticed, or will have used the product in a way that no one else has thought up, so it is important to share our knowledge and I encourage everyone to participate in the community.”
