Recording doesn't play V.6.2

Hello,

I emailed the help desk about the following issue on 1/30/08 and haven't heard back yet...can someone please help out with this?

I am writing to report that the following recording: https://breeze.psu.edu/p96667569/ doesn't play. Can someone look into this?

Also, Wesley Stroh (wjs207), host of the room https://breeze.psu.edu/gismeetingroom/ was not able to view recordings from this room. Can you look into this as well?

Thanks!
Beth

RE Recording doesn't play issue dated 02/06/2008 update

Update --- Since we have installed the Adobe patch that addresses some of the audio and recording issues, I have been following though and exploring previous issues that have been submitted to see if there is any improvement for the recordings. In the case of the following recording: https://breeze.psu.edu/p96667569/ mentioned in the original post, it seems to play fine on the Mac and Windows XP platform with the Firefox browser. The other recordings referred to I was unable to check because of the lack of URL's to the recordings.

RE: Recording doesn't play - sending questions to the Help Desk

When email messages sent to helpdesk@psu.edu are forwarded to second level support for a response, Help Desk consultants have been instructed to reply to the sender that the message has been forwarded and that we will be in touch when we receive the response. Due to an oversight, the Help Desk did not reply to Beth in a timely fashion regarding the status of the reported problem.

To eliminate the risk of this occurring again, we ask that our Adobe Connect users do the following:
- Send email regarding Adobe Connect problems to Breeze@psu.edu instead of helpdesk@psu.edu. While the messages are answered by the same consultants, second level support only has access to messages that are sent to Breeze@psu.edu - not to email sent to helpdesk@psu.edu.
- If you do not receive a message back from helpdesk@psu.edu and/or Breeze@psu.edu within 24 hours (during normal working hours), please let the help desk know so that the problem can be researched. Our goal is to respond to all emails within that time frame.

We apologize for the inconvenience that our oversight has caused and we will make every effort that the problem does not happen in the future.

Thank you - Deb, ITS Help Desk

RE: Recording doesn't play

We have had an ongoing issue with the Version 6 recording feature. We have brought this to Adobe's attention several times and they assure us that the problem has been corrected in Version 7 which may be released late this Spring or Summer. To date, Adobe has yet to release a bug fix for Version 6. When we checked this particular recording https://breeze.psu.edu/p96667569/ it apparently was one of those random occurrences that did not record properly and cannot be recovered. Sorry for any inconveniences that this may have created. For further information about recording issues please refer to Yvonne Clark's comment at http://meeting.psu.edu/node/305

I would also suggest that a new meeting room be created and the previous room deleted. If you wish to use the same URL name then the owner will need to first delete the room to make the unique URL name available. Adobe Connect does not support 2 meeting rooms with the same name or custom URL. After deleting the original room, a new room can be created, named and the unique URL created. Using a new room should clear out any unwanted or damaged information that may be causing recording and/or accessibility problems.

Thank you,
John

Bug Fix Released and Installed

Adobe did release a patch to fix the missing recording problem. Penn State installed the patch a couple of weeks ago and so far we have not heard of any problems. Thanks Adobe!

No Adobe Fix for Recordings until New Release

Adobe has confirmed that there are recording problems with the current version of Adobe Connect (v6.2). (See the post from November 9, 2007 at http://meeting.psu.edu/node/305.) Although they originally said they hoped to release a patch to fix the problems sometime in January, in our most recent meeting with our Adobe Rep, it sounded like, instead of releasing a patch, the problems will be fixed with the next release (v.7). The new release is supposed to be ready sometime this spring or early summer.

We are still working with Adobe on this issue and are trying to help them understand that we need to have the problems fixed NOW, not in a couple of months, but haven't made much progress. That's one of the short-comings of dealing with a 3rd party vendor -- their timeline doesn't necessarily match our timeline.

We haven't forgotten about this problem -- we are doing our best to push Adobe to send out a fix.
