Adobe has announced a new version of Connect, a Web-based, desktop videoconferencing system made available to the Penn State community through Information Technology Services (ITS).
ITS is in the process of reviewing the new version, Connect 7.0. To keep Penn State users up-to-date, ITS has set up a version 7.0 forum on the Adobe Connect Community Hub. To learn more about the upgrade, receive updates, and post comments or questions, please go to the forum at http://meeting.psu.edu/Version7.
Questions can also be sent to breeze@psu.edu.
when available to PSU?
Hello there,
I am sure it's not been decided yet as the new version is so "new," however, I would like to ask anyone knows of an approximate time frame if Penn State plans to take on the new version of Connect.
Thanks!
Beth
We haven't received the license yet
At this point no specific timeline has been set for upgrading. We do have a general plan, but aren't able to fill in specific dates because we haven't received the new license yet.
Penn State is in possession of a beta copy of the license for V.7 that we are currently using for evaluation. Although Adobe has announced the new licensed version, they have not yet given us a date when the update will be available. So, for now, all we can do is evaluate the beta version and wait.
If/when we do upgrade will depend on receiving the new version in time to install and test Adobe Connect as well as finalize updated documentation prior to the start of the Fall semester.
If we don't receive the new license in time to be ready for Fall semester, or, if we do receive the license but some of the major bugs haven't been fixed, we will most likely delay upgrading until after Fall semester.
Sorry, but the answer to your question is that, at this point, we really don't know.
No problem...
I just thought I'd ask if there was a ballpark timeframe. Thanks for writing back!
Beth
