Adobe Connect Community

Adobe has changed a number of things in the new version of Adobe Connect. Here are just a few of the highlights:

Recordings -- users are now able to edit recordings as well as move them from the server to a CD or Web site. This update is retroactive, so recordings made with previous versions will also be editable and movable with the update.

Audio -- audio has been separated out from video. Now you can select to have just audio with no video. The Camera and Voice pod is no longer part of the default layout and is no longer required just to broadcast audio. By separating out the audio, adobe has made it possible to "pass the mic." Which leads to the next change......

The Attendee List -- emoticons have changed as have the options that can be easily selected for each user. Instead of having to go through several layers of clicking to grant Participants enhanced permissions to specific pods, the new Attendee List makes it easy to allow individual Participants to broadcast audio and use the Share pod -- just by selecting that option from the "flyout" menu associated with each Participant's name. As always, only a meeting room Host has access to the options in the Attendee List. In addition, the Attendee List is no longer required on the meeting room stage in order to give Attendees access to the emoticons. Emoticons can now be accessed by all meeting room Attendees from a button which is a permanent fixture on the meeting room stage.

New icons -- you will notice a number of new icons in V.7. New icons have been created for the Attendee List emoticons as well as for the new breakout room and the new, separate audio option.

Breakout Rooms -- now you can create breakout rooms within a meeting room to use during the meeting. The breakout rooms function as separate entities with their own audio, video, and layouts. Participants are automatically promoted to Participants when entering a breakout room so they will have access to all of the pods and tools the Host has made available to them. Content from the breakout rooms can be shared with the entire group in the main meeting room.

Meeting Manager Interface -- the Web-based access screens to meeting rooms, recordings, reports, etc, have been re-designed. Adobe is now calling this "Connect Pro Central" instead of the Meeting Manager Interface.

Chat pod -- the Chat pod has some new options in the options menu for chat notification options.
