V.7 Screen Sharing Add-in Issue with Mac

There is a documented issue with installing the Screen Sharing Add in - "connect addin" with users on a Mac and monitor resolutions larger than 2000 pixels either vertical or horizontal.

Synptom: Macintosh is unable to install the add-in for V.7 of Adobe Connect.

Explanation in Adobe's release notes of Connect Pro 7:
On Macintosh, the Meeting Add in will fail to launch a meeting if either the width or the
height of the screen resolution is set to 2000 pixels or greater. The window appears but is blank (white).

Workaround: lower the screen resolution, or launch the meeting in the browser (append"?launcher=false" to the url)

(Done w/Safari )

As reported by a member of our online community:
What finally worked:

  • went to ~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/www.macromedia.com/bin
  • then deleted the folder named "Connectaddin"
  • Emptied trash
  • Cleared history, cookies, etc. in browser
  • Dropped resolution from 2560x1600
to 1920x1440 (keeping it under 2000 pixels)
  • Reopened Connect meeting and
installed Sharing Add on (by clicking on the blue down arrow in the upper
    right corner) selecting INSTALL
  • then YES
  • then OPEN
  • it should install the updated add on to ~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash
    Player/www.macromedia.com/bin w/folder Connectaddin
  • my screen refreshed/flashed
and then I was able to share

Once I upped up resolution back to 2560 x 1440 - I would experience a white screen.
