Adobe connect and FlashPlayer

I cannot get on to the Adobe Connect session with my class. When I try to sign on it tells me to download the latest version of FlashPlayer. I install it and it still does not allow me to get on the session and I keep getting directed back to the FlashPlayer page. Please Advise.

Information from the Adobe Flash site

I had a problem with Flash and Adobe Connect. I downloaded the new version but couldn't see anything in the room when I logged in. After looking through all the help files and trying their solutions, I was able to reach the meeting room- 3 and a half hours late. It took uninstalling the old Flash player, clearing the IE cache and reinstalling the Flash player (all several times for me) before it worked. This is the link to the Adobe Flash site that spells out some of the problems and solutions for the Flash player not working: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_19166

RE: Information from the Adobe Flash site

We have previously encountered similar problems with screens not showing properly. If there are several browsers installed it is necessary to clear the history and cache for all the browsers. For detailed steps for this procedure please visit the following link:

Quit the Browser before installing

I talked with someone else having the same problem a couple of weeks ago. I think the solution in that instance was that she needed to quit the browser after downloading the plugin but before starting to install. When she tried to install without quitting the browser first, it acted like it installed, but it really didn't.

Another possibility is that you don't have admin rights on the computer you are using, so, even though it acts like it installs, it really doesn't. You would need to contact your local tech support in that instance to have them install the plugin.

I don't know which platform or which browser you are using, so these suggestions may not solve your problem. Adobe has additional Flash installation information posted at http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/productinfo/instructions/. Perhaps they have something posted there that would be of help to you.

Still not working

We tried this approach on a computer we want to use for class and still get the error message about needing Flashplayer 8. The latest version (9.0xxxx) is installed on the machines, but to be sure we reinstalled, after closing the Adobe Connect window and once going directly to the Adobe website without even opening the Adobe Connect window. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Try a Different Browser

Did you try a different browser? I use FireFox. Being a Mac user I have Safari installed but found that some things didn't work correctly with Safari.

Executable installer for Flash instead of ActiveX

If the ActiveX Control for Flash Player fails to install, download the executable installer.
You can download the executable Flash Player installer here:

http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/ts/documents/tn_19166/Install_F...

You will have to extract it from the zip file. Then double-click to install it. Be sure that all of your browser windows are closed before trying to install.

Once the install completes, open your web browser and go to the following URL to confirm that Flash Player has installed successfully.
