Problems Playing Recordings

Over the weekend some people experienced problems playing recordings from the Adobe Connect server. This morning we reset the servers and that seems to have fixed the problems for now. However, in order to get the recording to play I also had to clear my browser cache (see the post at http://meeting.psu.edu/node/471) as well as refresh the screen AFTER restarting the browser and going to the recording URL. We are actively working with Adobe to correct these problems and are sorry for any inconvenience this may be causing.

Hi,

I am registered on ANGEL as a FOPS. I have also been having problems accessing the recordings for:
- Merged E SC and PHYS 597A Neural Control Engineering

The instructor has added me to the class, and I can access everything else (including broadcast lectures), but not the recordings.

Penn State Adobe Connect and ANGEL not Connected

There is currently no login connection between ANGEL and Adobe Connect. Being logged in to ANGEL with student permissions does not necessarily automatically also give you the necessary permissions to access Adobe Connect recordings. In order for your ANGEL login to give you access to recordings, your instructor would have needed to download the recordings from the Penn State Adobe Connect server and uploaded them into ANGEL. On the other hand, if the recordings are housed on the Adobe Connect server and simply linked to from within ANGEL, then access is controlled by the recording settings on the Adobe Connect server.

The way to tell if the recordings have been uploaded to the ANGEL server or simply linked to on the Adobe Connect server is by the URL. If the URL for the recording begins with "http://breeze.psu.edu/p...." then the recording is housed on the Penn State Adobe Connect server. Directions for setting recording permissions can be found at http://meeting.psu.edu/node/459. Only the meeting room Hosts and owner are able to access and set permissions on recordings associated with a meeting room.

Server issues may have caused these porblems

If the access was an issue today, then the server issues probably contributed to this. If you do see issues, the information about clearing cache is a good first step to try to solve the problem.
