I coordinate training sessions where we use Adobe Connect and a simultaneous conference call on the phone. These trainings are for in-person attendees as well as remote attendess. We started recording these trainings by having the our presenter wear a headset around her neck with the microphone portion directed towards her mouth. This worked, but we would like to get a microphone that is less cumbersome for the presenter. Is there a clip-on mic that she could attach to her shirt that would still pick up her voice clearly for the recording?
Any USB Mic Will Work
Most any USB mic will work with Adobe Connect. I looked at the Penn State Computer Store, but didn't see any lapel (lavaliere) mics listed. One advantage to using a headset is that the mic follows your mouth as you turn your head keeping the volume of your recording voice more consistent -- although probably not if you are just wearing it around your neck. A mic on a lapel won't do that.
Acoustic Magic works very well
We bought one recommended by an independent consultant and it works extremely well. Can set the mic so it picks up everythingi in the room, or can be focused on the speaker. Quite magical. Here's the Connectusers Forum comments on it: http://www.connectusers.com/forums/cucbb/viewtopic.php?id=1820
Price, though. About $250. We have the analog version.
Andrea Device Eliminates Need for External Mic
You might also want to consider trying something like an Andrea Device: http://meeting.psu.edu/node/275 which allows you to record directly from your phone and eliminates the need for an external mic.
