I am starting to experiment with Adobe Connect to see what's involved with recording a session (with no audience) for self-paced learning. So I recorded a session that showed how to change the junk mail settings within the Thunderbird email client. When I played the recording back, I discovered that the audio and mouse movements were out of synch. Is there something I need to do to make sure they are in synch when I record?
Re: Audio & Mouse Movements Not Synched
Hi,
There are probably several issues that may be affecting the sync problem.
First there may be an issue with the speed and the type of Internet connection you may have. Since the recording is made on the server, an adequate connection of at least LAN quality should be used. Wireless is not a good choice for attempting to do this.
You might ask why is bandwidth so important. Anytime that you are "desktop" sharing or "application" sharing, Adobe Connect will first prioritize the content sharing portion before audio or video. This type of sharing is very demanding on bandwidth, so it is very possible that this is having some effect.
If you are looking for real high quality, I recommend using a separate application to capture the screen/mouse movements and audio and load that into Adobe Connect as an Flash Video File (.flv). This will also provide you with an opportunity to edit the file at a level that is not readily available in Connect. The two applications that come to mind that are very good and reasonably priced are Camtasia (www.techsmith.com) or Adobe Captivate (www.adobe.com)
Hope this helps.
